One Month

28 Sep

Greetings, authors, readers, and members of the general public who just happened to stumble upon my humble blog!

I am posting this on the eve of my return to the USA.  Tonight I am going to fall asleep in Ireland and tomorrow night I will be passing out in America.

Despite valiant attempts to write while on the Emerald Isle for the past 2.5 weeks, I must admit I have failed miserably.

However, the one-month-until-my-wedding-date mark is just about upon us, and after the joys of that grand event have blurred past, I plan on forcing myself back on track and finishing the final edit of my second novel, Semester of Thursdays, due to be released some time in December.

I will be posting chapters from the aforementioned work in just a few weeks time.  So keep an eye out for soon-to-be-resurrected Friday Chapters.  Also, as of right now it looks like I won’t be able to rejoin the SSS world until after the wedding.  (Events like Dress Fittings, Bachelorette Parties, Bridal Showers, etc. seem to be interrupting my regularly scheduled broadcasts)  Still, SSS continues to provide readers with some fab material, so I strongly urge you to check out the talented authors found there.

Having said that, I’d like to offer a word of THANKS to anyone and everyone who has bought a copy of my debut novel, The Mirrors at Barnard Hall, those of you who have taken the time to write reviews, AND fans have spread the word about my book.  With the help of your word-of-mouth marketing, September sales have shown a 35% increase over August’s numbers!

Loyal readers ROCK!

Happy reading, writing–and traveling.

Anyone who knows me would agree that I’m a planner.  So it is no surprise that I have the next few months of my budding writing career organized.

I’m pleased to announce that my second book, Semester of Thursdays (a two-part novel), should be available digitally around Christmas time.  The print copy will follow along a month or so afterward.

Also, I will be releasing all of Book 1 on my blog, chapter-by-chapter each Friday, for readers to enjoy–or criticize–starting in late October.

Why would I do such a thing?  Basically, my decision to release Book 1 comes from a desire to allow my audience to test the waters before purchasing a copy.  That way, individuals will have the opportunity to see if they enjoy a story that is completely different from my first book, The Mirrors at Barnard Hall.

If it’s not for you I’ll be content in the knowledge that you sampled my work and you’ll be happy you didn’t waste $2.99 on some drivel your fifth-grader could have written.

Happy Reading, Writing, and Editing.

After a two-week break, I’m back for another Six Sentence Sunday.

“I hate Celebrities who whine about their fame,” Lena began.  “They work hard to move up the famous-food-chain then waste the money we gave them on buying privacy.”

“You donate money to celebrities?  Why don’t you put your cash to good use and help pay for cable?” I suggested.

“Don’t be stupid, Meredith”

Had she been referring to donating money or paying the bills?
