Just a Phase

7 Sep

1958673I’m beginning to wonder if my passion for writing–especially in the genre I’ve chosen–was a bit of a phase that stemmed from dissatisfaction with the romantic relationships I’d experienced.  Now that I’m happily married and expecting a little one, I’ve made what feels like a seamless transition into a mothering phase.  That’s not to say I’ll never write again (there are too many unfinished manuscripts on my hard drive to allow such laziness); however, taking a break has been inevitable–even needed.

There are many successful authors who have found the perfect balance between  partners, children, and even their occupations to continue churning out prose at an astonishing rate; it appears as though I’m not one of them.

Writing has always been an escape for me, a way to leave behind my life for a little while and create a new world to share with others.  Right now, I’m not looking for an escape 🙂

Happy reading, writing, and living.

Congrats on the little one on its way! It’s perfectly understandable to take a break from writing, but PLEASE don’t quit entirely. I love what I’ve read of your writing, and I can’t wait until I can read your books waiting for me on my Kindle. You’ve got a wonderful voice. So come back to it when you’re ready. And enjoy the new adventures awaiting you!

Thanks so much, Donna–for the well-wishes and the push to continue when I have a bit more down time. There’s no doubt I’ll be searching for a bit of an escape (even to help maintain my sanity) again in the near future 🙂

Oh wow, Jenny! Mega congrats on the baby news *squeal*. Very happy for you. Don’t stop writing. You’ll find the perfect balance. Everyone needs to take a hiatus from the computer/writing, completely understandable. Looking forward to reading more of your lovely stories!
